Pictures of Planes in Difficulty - Amazing PowerPoint Presentation

Each picture of a plane in difficulty records an unfortunate accident.  While the images are more tragic than comic, they do provoke questions; for example, why did the airplane crash, how did the pilot escape?  What strikes Will and Guy is these days of phone cameras, and hand-held movie cameras, almost no event can go unrecorded.  The bonus is more pictures for us to imagine the surrounding circumstances.

What's happening to this plane?

Where are the front-seat passengers?  What happened to the air-hostesses in the jump-seat?  Is the plane stable enough to land?  How long has it being flying like this?  For once, Will and Guy have not been able to find the answers - however we do have the picture.

Here is another picture of a plane in difficulty - Whoops

Planes picture - Difficulty

Robert B Hager took this picture of a plane in difficulty back in about 1996 or 97.  The accident happened at Boeing Field in Seattle.  Robert says, ' The truly amazing thing is that the only thing holding the airplane was a wire underneath one of the landing gear wheels.  It wasn't wrapped around the tire either. Nor was the wing in the wires. Just that single wire. And, yeah, the pilot was sitting really still. Took rescue folks most of the morning to get him down, but he made it O.K.'

If all else fails - press the ejector button

Pilot Ejecting from Plane

The picture captures the split second after the pilot pressed the ejector button.  Amazing how he parachuted to safety even when the airplane was at such low altitude.
